解放初期，冀东芳草地。共产党员高大泉（张国民饰）成立了天门区第一个互助组，带领翻身农民搭犋换工，完成了春耕春播任务，他的工作得到县委书记的支持和肯定。村长张金发（马精武饰）则热衷于谷县长（葛存壮饰）提出的“发家致富”口号，富农冯少怀买骡子在翻身户面前示威，遭到朱铁汉（朱德承饰）等人的斥责。冯少怀挑唆高二林（苗壮饰）和哥哥高大泉分家，暗藏的敌人范克明（张柏林饰）则离间互助组内部人员争贷款，迫使翻身农民刘祥（谷子饰）卖地，明知互助组缺东少西，挑拔张金寿卖车要粮。面对各种扑面而来的刁难和打击，高大泉没有退却或让步，克服重重困难,他带头成立了天门区第一个农业合作社......。A quick glimpse at the cast for this film would make any horror fan giddy with glee.
