影片以中国的稀有古老剧种，迄今300多年历史的北路戏以及寿宁县独特的民俗民情事象为背景，展现了生活在古朴的边陲小镇上人们朴素的生活和执着的温暖。兴盛于上世纪六十年代的北路戏曾经是小镇上人们唯一的生活寄托，而这个寄托却在一场车祸中化为乌有，北路戏也因为诸位演员车祸丧生和戏 班班主林福坤的失踪而在小镇消失。北路戏演员依妹车祸中侥幸活了下，开了个面作坊维持生计。二十年后的一天，人们熟悉的贯木廊桥上来了一位陌生的男人，娴熟地绘着廊桥上的彩绘，这个人陌生的男人叫长天，他的到来搅乱了依妹早已平静的心扉，也将小镇搅得热闹起来，因为阔别二十多年后，人们再次听到了那久远却熟悉的北路戏声。。Each year, a father films his daughter on her birthday, asking her the same questions.
